The NFL has been hit with backlash after announcing that the Black national anthem “Lift Every Voice And Sing” will be performed at next month's Super Bowl.

The Black National Anthem will be performed at the Super Bowl

The NFL announced last week that the black national anthem would be performed by Oscar-nominated singer Andra Day before the Super Bowl, the Daily Mail reported. The song has been performed at the last two Super Bowls, and has been performed before NFL games since 2001.

“I think I got the call in November when they told me, 'Yes, we have the green light to do this' and I remember having a very strange feeling,” Day, 39, told Entertainment Tonight. “I was like, 'Why do I feel like it was so deep?' “I was like, 'Why am I nervous?'” Panicking. I had anxiety in my stomach in November about something that would happen in February.

“I was so nervous but so excited. Thankful. And also just an honor,” she continued. “It's an honor to sing the Black National Anthem.”

“Lift Every Voice and Sing” was named the “Negro National Anthem” by the NAACP in 1919, and later became a rallying cry for the civil rights movement. However, critics of the song say it only divides the American people further at a time when we should be coming together.

I thought they learned their lesson with Kaepernick kneeling 🤦

There is only one national anthem, it represents all of us regardless of color, and in my opinion… no one performed better than it… pic.twitter.com/BemKmt1LuT

    Social media users respond

After the NFL announced that the song would be performed again this year, social media users were quick to respond.

“The NFL announced that the so-called ‘Black National Anthem’ will be played at the Super Bowl,” conservative commentator Charlie Kirk said. “Of course, in reality, the Black National Anthem is played at every Super Bowl, because The Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem for all Americans. The effort to create a 'Black National Anthem' and a 'Black Independence Day' on Juneteenth, is part of A broader project to divide Americans along racial lines.

“Clearly the NFL continues to perpetuate white supremacy and divisiveness during this year's Super Bowl. If that's what you support, enjoy watching. Absolutely not,” another social media user added, with a third writing: “Fans They only have themselves to blame. An organized boycott will stop this nonsense in a few weeks. Instead of complaining about it, use your reach to organize a boycott and explain to the NFL what it needs to do to win back its fans.

“I'm probably done with the NFL,” a fourth user commented. “We have a national anthem that represents us as the great American melting pot. To take that and make an anthem for one ethnic group is a slap in the face to every other ethnicity and to the face of our country.”

If the NFL wants to play the black national anthem, I won't be watching the Super Bowl this year!

    Other Super Bowl Offers

“Lift Every Voice And Sing” was performed at last year's Super Bowl by Sheryl Lee Ralph. While Day will sing the Black National Anthem this year, Reba McEntire will perform the actual national anthem “The Star Spangled Banner,” and Post Malone will sing “America the Beautiful.”

Despite what the left says, there is only one national anthem, and that should be the only song performed before the Super Bowl. What do you think about the NFL continuing to push the black national anthem on us? Let us know in the comments section.
