GREEN BAY – It's still hard to accept. The Packers head home for the offseason as the San Francisco 49ers prepare for the NFC Championship game on Sunday.
“It hurts,” Packers Hall of Famer Mark Tauscher of ESPN Wisconsin's Wild and Tauscher said. “The future is bright, but we have to play next Sunday.”

Green Bay was in control for most of the game, but gave up a late touchdown to San Francisco. An interception by quarterback Jordan Love put the game out of reach.
“We outplayed San Francisco all the way,” Tuscher told the West Morning News on Monday. “But you can't accept field goals. You can't make mistakes. Love was in control, (but) the pressure got to him. He missed shots (in the fourth quarter) that he didn't miss earlier in the game.”
Tauscher expects the Packers to make a play for a new safety this offseason. Safety Darnell Savage's contract expired after the season.
There's no doubt that the postseason experience will help the young Packers team develop and grow, but the way it ended left fans wondering what could have been.
“With all the young guys, the season is a huge ‘ata boy’ for (the front office and coaches), but it was a big one-two punch that we could have (goed to the Super Bowl),” Teuscher admitted. “This sting will last a lifetime.”
