North Coast watershed conservation communities have spent a year speaking truth to power. We've been defending, learning and growing.
We would like to invite you to our next in-person meeting on the current status and future of the Jetty Creek watershed, the surface drinking water source for the City of Rockaway Beach, Oregon. This meeting will be held on Saturday 3 February2024 at 2:00 pm at St. Mary on the Sea Catholic Church; 275 South Pacific street.; Rockaway Beach, OR 97136. (Please note that this is the revised meeting date. A Zoom link will be available, if in-person attendance is not convenient for you.) Light refreshments will be available.

While this meeting is expected to be of particular interest to those who drink water that comes from Jetty Creek, anyone interested in drinking watershed issues is welcome to attend. Because there may be changes in the near future in the management and ownership of the Jetty Creek Watershed, NCCWP would like to engage the public in this very important dialogue. If you drink the water, you'll learn why you should care about the future of this watershed.
The event's featured speaker will be Chuck Wheeler, longtime director of the Coast Range Association, a grassroots organization. “I will be there to contribute everything I know about watershed protection, forest land purchases, and conservation easements,” he said. Chuck is committed to forest reform and the formation of community forest organizations. He has worked on a number of grassroots efforts related to forest water issues on the Oregon Coast. Chuck will lead a discussion on protecting and protecting drinking water sources, as well as the importance of community ownership and management of drinking watersheds based on local and democratic control. The program will conclude with ideas on how people can get involved in protecting their drinking watersheds.
During the meeting, NCCWP will provide updates on the current status of the Jetty Creek Watershed, as well as provide background information on different types of watershed ownership and management. As you participate in this conversation about Jetty Creek, you will hear from your friends and neighbors, as well as experts in water resource management and watershed health.
NCCWP encourages any interested and qualified persons to apply to the SWP Plan Development Advisory Committee. (More information about the application process should be available on the city's website after the decision is approved.)

As a matter of necessity and regardless of land ownership, the NCCWP is calling for no more logging and no more pesticide spraying within our drinking watersheds. Safe drinking water and clean air are part of the public trust to which we are all entitled. Please help North Coast Watershed Conservation Communities protect and restore our drinking watersheds.
