Milan's win over Udinese was briefly suspended on Saturday after allegations of racist abuse by home fans towards Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

Minian informed the referee before leaving the field after half an hour, followed by his teammates.

The incident occurred shortly after Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek gave the visitors the lead with a low first-time shot inside the post.

The Italian League match resumed approximately 10 minutes later.

“I said we cannot play football this way,” Maignan told Sky Sports Italia. “This is not the first time it has happened this way.”

He added: “They have to impose very severe sanctions, because the talks are no longer doing anything.

“We have to say that what they are doing is wrong. It is not about the entire audience, most fans want to support their team and make fun of you. It is normal, but not this.”

He added: “What happened in the first half was that at the first goal kick I heard monkey sounds, and I did not say anything.

“The second time I went to get the ball, I heard it again. I told the fourth official and my bench what happened.

“I was angry, because this is not the first time this has happened. I didn't want to play, but we are a family and I can't leave my teammates like that.”

Milan posted on the X website: “There is absolutely no place in our game for racism: we are appalled. We are with you, Mike.”

Inter Milan, the league leader, responded: “We are brothers of the world, against all forms of discrimination. At your side.”

“These things have nothing to do with football and they hurt. There is no such thing as black or white. We are all the same,” AC Milan winner Noah Okafor told DAZN.

Former England and Arsenal striker Ian Wright also wrote on X: “Solidarity from the rest of the team. Keep it up!! We've played through it and nothing has changed. Point deductions needed, fines are meaningless.”

The Italian League also condemned any form of racism.

France goalkeeper Maignan (28 years old) was beaten three minutes later by Lazar Samardzic's shot, before Florian Thauvin put Udinese ahead in the 62nd minute.

But Milan snatched victory when substitute Luka Jovic scored from a rebound seven minutes from time, and Okafor made it 3-2 in stoppage time from close range.

Milan occupies third place in the Italian League, six points behind leaders Inter Milan and four points behind second-placed Juventus, each with a postponed match.
