SACRAMENTO — Slippery roads Saturday night, especially on the interstate, could pose a danger to those who don't drive carefully.

Rain in the valley and snow in the Sierra created dangerous road conditions this weekend, leading to some flooding and control of the chain.

If you are traveling this weekend, Caltrans advises motorists to allow extra time to reach their destination due to wet roads and potential road flooding.

In West Sacramento, cars experienced some minor road flooding near the eastbound Interstate 50 at the Jefferson Boulevard off-ramp.

Snowy conditions and white roads heading into the Sierra created traffic hazards Interstate 80 near Donner Lake.

Cars were a shocker as the CHP took control of the chain Saturday night on Interstate 80.

The first storm moves in Saturday night and another directly behind it on Sunday.

So, if you plan to drive, AAA wants to remind people to allow extra space between cars to avoid collisions, avoid cruise control when driving in wet weather conditions, slow down and avoid reckless drivers who may be speeding, and avoid hard braking.

Caltrans said for travelers wanting to head to the Sierra, try to delay any travel Saturday and Sunday night if possible due to the wet and wintry storm.
