Huge fights over race broke out between blacks and Somalis at St. Louis Park High School in Minneapolis on Thursday. The high school canceled classes Friday after a series of fights on campus.

High school staff intervened to stop the fighting. At least two adults involved in the fight were arrested.

Per Crime Watch Minneapolis: The two parties arrested are: Abriha Analisa Smith, 22 years old, and Latoise Renael Mellon, 41 years old.

“Smith had an active felony warrant for aiding/abetting robbery, as well as two other open cases for robbery,” Crime Watch Minneapolis reported. Mellon had an active warrant for theft of services. They were released after less than 5 hours in jail.

“Unfortunately, the situation escalated further at the end of the school day when adults (not SLP staff), who were aware of the prior altercation, engaged in another physical altercation with some students,” the statement read.

“As of now, there is no confirmation about weapons being involved in any of the altercations. We actively collect information and work closely with law enforcement to understand the full scope of these incidents, including whether or not these incidents are racially motivated. The school said.

We have been sent videos of a series of fights that broke out in St. Louis. Louis Park HS on Thursday. At least two adults were arrested, and the district canceled school for Friday. The Daily Mail reported:

A fight over race broke out between black and Somali students at a Minneapolis high school, allegedly leading to the arrest of at least two adults accused of joining them.

Abriha Analisa Smith, 22, and Latoise Renael Mellon, 41, were arrested but later released without charges after a fight broke out at St. Louis Park High School in Minnesota on Thursday.

The initial altercation broke out between a group of black and Somali students, CrimeWatchMinneapolis alleged, but the situation escalated when parents, after learning of the incident, allegedly joined the fight alongside their children.

Latois' daughter, Sanaya Mellon, claimed she was slammed to the ground and kicked by dozens of students earlier Thursday over a “personal beef.” She denied allegations that the fight was racially motivated, although the school continues to investigate the matter as such.

Sanaya said she had previously quarreled with a Somali student months ago. The counselor and school principal intervened at the time, and Sanaya said she believed the problem had been resolved.
