After asking what appeared to be an innocent question, American rapper Meek Mill received backlash on X (formerly known as Twitter). It all started when he asked a question about one of his songs, which sparked a controversy.
His question on the popularity of his music in Africa and the music platforms used in South Africa and Nigeria sparked the whole controversy.
The rapper asked a question on his official X account that said:
The query sparked criticism from netizens, who saw it as a sign of ignorance regarding technological advancement on the continent. They took to the comments section of Mill's X post to respond to the same.

Mel recently got into big trouble when he asked a question to his fans in South Africa and Nigeria. The famous rapper from the vibrant city of Philadelphia decided to reach out to his fans on Saturday morning, January 20.
Mel uploaded a tweet regarding his performance in South Africa and inquired how many people had listened to his music there. The rapper also asked what platform South Africans and Nigerians use to hear his music.
However, his question caused quite a stir. Many mocked him for misunderstanding how tech savvy people in South Africa are. Hence, once his tweet went viral, it received a lot of funny reactions among netizens.
However, Mel remained unaffected by the whole thing. This is not the first time Meek Mill has been involved in controversy. Because of the explicit language of one of his songs, Amen, Pastor Jomo K. called. Johnson, a Philadelphia-based preacher, was sent to Mill County after its release. Amen It was the theme song from Dreams and nightmares.
According to the complex, Johnson said in a statement,
“As a hip-hop fan, I want to encourage every Philly rap fan who believes in Jesus Christ, to boycott Meek Mill until he acknowledges this blatant disrespect. As a North Philly resident and pastor, I rescind Meek's decision to 'pass the hood' until this happens.” “
However, in an interview with BET's 106 & Park on July 17, 2012, Meek Mill clarified himself. Regarding the whole incident, he said he doesn't believe any church or preacher supports rap music because of the language used in those songs. However, he claimed that this is the ultimate life. He also said that he was not trying to insult anyone's religion or anything similar.
