Texas man Scotty Jackson was allegedly beaten to death on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Authorities have named 27-year-old Chrysantus Omondi in connection with Jackson's fatal death. Omondi reportedly attacked two men, with one killed and the other injured. The authorities also filed charges against the suspect.
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been launched to cover Jackson's funeral expenses. The fundraiser's goal was $5,000 and has already raised more than $10,500. Law enforcement officials revealed that Jackson was at work, delivering lumber in Fort Worth, at the time of the fatal attack on Saturday.
Scotty Jackson, a 51-year-old delivery worker, was beaten to death while delivering firewood
The horrific incident happened on Saturday, January 13, when Scotty Jackson was beaten to death by a naked drug addict. The man who was receiving firewood from Jackson spoke to WFAA and said:
“While we were loading the wheelbarrow, this random guy showed up and confronted me directly and accused me of being on his property, in his house, and he never wanted to see us again.”
The recipient also chose to remain anonymous when he made this statement. According to the recipient, he wanted to stock up on firewood before the storm. As previously reported, a GoFundMe fundraiser has been launched for the victim. According to the fundraising flyer.
“My father Scotty Edward Jackson was killed on 01-13-2024 while delivering firewood when a drug addict hit him with the firewood. To raise money for funeral expenses.”
He also mentioned,
“He put firewood on the side to make extra money, and with the cold Texas weather, he made sure everyone had firewood.”
The suspect faces murder charges
During the confrontation between Omondi and the two men, including victim Scottie Jackson, he picked up a log and attacked the men. While Jackson, 51, was fatally injured, the other man survived the attack. The survivor of the attack called 911. He added:
“When he was chasing me and attacking me, I was looking death in the face.”
After the attack, the alleged attacker reportedly returned to a nearby Airbnb, where he was renting a room. Another tenant in a separate room claimed he was still naked and screaming even after returning to the property. After the authorities arrived at the scene, they had to use a stun gun before arresting Omondi because he refused to obey orders. He is currently being held at the Tarrant County Corrections Center, and his bond has been set at $300,000. According to Cassie De Leon, as reported by WFAA,
“He was always doing something funny. He would randomly start dancing or telling a joke. I would say to him: 'Dad, you are so embarrassed.' I wish I could tell him that bad. Embarrass me again, embarrass me again.
The suspected attacker was also charged with murder, aggravated assault on a peace officer and obstruction or retaliation in connection with Scotty Jackson's death.
