The Royal Navy said that two British warships collided off the coast of Bahrain.

Social media footage appears to show HMS Chiddingfold heading toward HMS Bangor in the bay, prompting an official investigation.

The Navy said no one was injured on either ship, but “some damage occurred.”

Admiral Edward Algren added: “Why this happened remains to be determined.

“We train our staff to the highest standards and strictly enforce machine safety standards, but unfortunately incidents of this type can still happen.

“I can assure you that a full and thorough investigation is already underway and any changes to procedures that could prevent further incidents will be implemented quickly.

“In the meantime, the UK will continue to play a key role in ensuring the safety of commercial shipping in the region,” he added.
