Corey Wright
MIDDLEFIELD — Corey Wright dabbles in the past and the future.
Wright has been a consultant with DeveloCo for nearly five years. DeveloCo is an IT company that provides sales force consulting and web development services.
When he's not repairing computers and designing websites, he is president of the Middlefield Historical Society, which he has been doing for the past four years.
Wright, 37, is the son of Fred and Sheila Wright. He was born in Chardon, but his family moved to Middlefield before he was two years old.
He is a 2005 graduate of Cardinal High School and a graduate of Case Western Reserve University. His undergraduate degree is a combined engineering degree and aviation mechanics degree. He also holds a master's degree from Case University in Engineering Management.
Wright's father was an electrical engineer for several companies and now does some consulting. His mother was a preschool teacher where Wright went to preschool. She became a stay-at-home mother when he entered elementary school. He has two siblings, Tommy and Angie.
“I've always been interested in technology. I fix computers.”
Before working with DeveloCo, Wright was able to do a lot of consulting work on his own.
“Website design, IT work, computer repair, things like that,” He said.
When Wright was in middle school, the Village contacted his art teacher about a mural project to see if there were any students interested in doing the project.
“A few of my friends and I have expressed interest in working on the project.” Wright said.
The original mural project (at the Middlefield Tavern) was done by students the summer before they entered high school.
Wright was the first volunteer at the Depot Ice Cream Shop (located behind Pizza Hut) when it opened 25 years ago, and he worked there during the summer.
“The ice cream shop had been run by the Historical Society ever since they owned the building. About four years ago, they were having trouble finding volunteers to work there and talked about having to close it. So, I stepped up and volunteered a few times that summer, and that's what got me re-engaged with the Historical Society.” . Wright explained.
This led to him becoming a member of the Board of Directors and he was elected President in 2020.
The Middlefield Historical Society meets once a month for nine months of the year. It hosts fundraisers, including a summer yard sale and a festival of trees.
“And of course, the Ice Cream Warehouse is open June through August, just in a few different ways to get the community involved. I've always loved history.” Wright said.
He's thinking of having some Sunday tea this year.
Wright has been married for two years to the former Carolyn Kreppel, who markets for the Lake County Council on Developmental Disabilities. They live near Cleveland with their labradoodle waffles.
He has a variety of interests, including playing guitar, biking, camping, boating, and generally being near water. Wright said he also enjoys doing home improvement projects on their home.
