And she doesn't even have plans to do so
Joe Biden's administration is under fire from a federal watchdog for failing to track foreign ownership of US farmland, which feeds the country's population.
In fact, a new report says Biden does not appear to have plans to monitor those developments important to the country's security.
A report from Fox News bluntly warns that Biden “does not appear to have a plan to begin” monitoring the issue.
It notes that a document compiled by the Government Accountability Office revealed that the Agriculture Department failed to share timely information about what foreigners are buying and what land, even though that is required under the Agricultural Foreign Investment Disclosure Act of 1978.
“Sharing current data can help increase clarity on potential national security risks related to foreign investments in U.S. farmland,” the GAO explained. “USDA implements AFIDA across field offices and headquarters, but its processes for collecting, tracking, and reporting basic information are flawed.”
In fact, some details are collected on 'paper forms', but there is no agenda for any database.
The latest details date back to 2021, the report said.
“This report confirms one of our worst fears: Not only is the USDA unable to answer the question of who owns what land where, but there is no plan by the department to correct this serious imbalance internally affecting our supply chain and supply chain,” said Rep. Dan Newhouse. Republican from Washington State and head of the Western Caucus in Congress: “The economy.”
“Food security is national security, and we cannot allow foreign enemies to affect our food supply while we bury our heads in the sand,” he warned.
Recent purchases of American territory by foreign companies have raised alarms among Republicans because of the threat the enemy might pose to “establish a stranglehold” on America’s food and energy resources.
Members of Congress specifically expressed concern about China's purchases, some of which were near military facilities.
