The Professional Women's Hockey League is only 13 games into its first season, but the emerging competition is already fueling growing interest in women's sports, which had a banner year on multiple fronts in 2023.
More than 65,000 fans attended PWHL games, which average crowds of just over 5,000 people each night. The biggest success story so far has been in Minnesota, which set an attendance record for women's professional hockey games when 13,316 fans attended the team's home opener. Minnesota home games, which are played in the same arena as the NHL's Minnesota Wild, account for approximately 26,000 fans alone.
