Malia Obama, the daughter of former President Barack Obama, is reportedly trying to make it in Hollywood, reappearing at the Sundance Film Festival this week to premiere her short film. the heart.
Malia's new movie
The Hollywood Reporter reported that Malia, 25, wrote and directed the project under the name “Malia Ann,” and the short film revolves around a grieving son who grapples with an unusual request his mother left him in her will.
“The film is about lost things and lonely people and forgiveness and regret, but I also think it works hard to reveal where tenderness and closeness can be found in those things,” Malia said in a video promoting the film.
“The people who came together to make this film have my heart, pun intended. I am incredibly grateful to them for giving life to this story. We are grateful to Sundance for giving us the opportunity to share it with all of you,” she added. “We hope you enjoy the film and that it makes you feel less alone.” Or at least reminds you not to forget the people who are there.”

Malia appears on the red carpet for the first time
People magazine reported that Malia appeared on the red carpet of the film festival, which was held at the Prospector Square Theater in Park City, Utah. There, she was seen wearing a long gray coat, a white button-down shirt, black jeans with a gray scarf and brown shoes.
Malia has long been trying to make it in Hollywood, having previously worked as a writer on the Prime Video thriller series “Swarm.”
“Some of her performances were very wild, and she was very good and very funny,” show director Janine Nabers told Entertainment Tonight of Malia last year. “She's an amazing writer. She brings a lot to the table… She's really, really dedicated to her craft.”
Malia was set to star in “Swarm” by Donald Glover, who starred in the film and produced it.
“I feel like she's just someone who's going to get really good things soon,” he told Vanity Fair of Malia in 2022. “Her writing style is amazing.”

Malia's history with Harvey Weinstein
It should be noted that during her time attending Harvard University, Malia worked as an intern for Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein before the sexual assault scandal broke out against him. TMZ reported at the time that Malia was “relegated to the production/development department,” and was tasked with “reading scripts and deciding which scripts would go to the Weinstein Brass.”
Time magazine reported that Weinstein contributed more than $70,000 to Barack Obama's re-election campaign in 2012, according to Federal Election Commission documents. He also donated $3,000 to former President Bill Clinton's re-election campaign in 2000 and more than $26,000 to campaigns or political action committees supporting 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton since 2000, according to Business Insider.
Weinstein was later convicted of raping multiple women and is currently serving a 23-year prison sentence. Malia has never spoken publicly about her time working with him.
Given how much the liberal world of Hollywood has fawned over the entire Obama family for years, it's no surprise that Malia has already been given the opportunity to direct her own films. What do you think of this? Let us know in the comments section.
