Good…. 2024 didn't start out as well as I wanted! Just dropping some tl;dr now and I'll write a full post-mortem when I feel better!
PVM was “hacked” not once but twice, and lost his large bag of cryptocurrencies! I've drained my money from $POOL, $OP, $ACX and all my USDC!
This first happened after I completed three ACX to USDC swaps on Velodrome, with the third failing. I didn't consider it suspicious but after a few hours I saw that all remaining ACX and $OP funds had been drained! Boom… $8,000 worth of cryptocurrencies gone!
It was December 19th and I opened a ticket on Velodrome, which was answered not so quickly. It took them two weeks to tell me that it was “unlikely” after the interaction with Philo.
I wasn't happy with the answer, considering Metamask support said it was very likely the dryer would be approved on the third failed swap.
They said bad things could still be present in Velodrome's code, following the two hacks and attacks on their user interface.
But the hacker took “pedal power” to a whole new level, and stole my optimism… literally!
I was disappointed with Velodrome's support and answers, and wanted to withdraw the ACX — ETH LP I had plus any remaining cryptocurrencies.
I started by claiming the VELO amount I earned, then foolishly decided to lock it for one year and forgot about it!
I made a few transactions and was drained again! Boom… all my USDC is gone with $POOL. Nearly $19,000 USD in Fixed Tokens and $3,000 USD in POOL Tokens were lost on January 2nd!
a happy new year! Time to touch some grass and keep telling myself that losing $30,000 isn't that bad! life goes on!
