Gus the beagle has returned home after spending a week in frigid Canadian weather, thanks to a community effort. “My heart sank, and I said, 'Oh my God,'” Teresa Nispero told CTV News. “The immediate thought was: 'Is he going to get beaten? Is he going to get robbed? What about the extreme cold?' After 12 hours, Nispero called for help on social media and neighbors began spreading the word and searching for Gus. A week passed before a neighbor saw Gus in a nearby rural area, and Nispero hurried off. Nispero had Gus examined by a vet, who was amazed at how healthy he was after being out in the cold for so long. He had some lesions on his nose and was working to regain the 16 pounds he lost. Aside from her gratitude that Gus returned home safe and sound, Nisperu said she was grateful to the neighbors who helped find him. Watch the video above to hear more about Gus' story.
