The severe weather threat is shifting east
After a night of severe weather along the Gulf Coast, the threat of rain and thunderstorms moves east into parts of the Southeast on Tuesday.

Hurricane Headquarters: Two areas to watch in the Atlantic Basin
As we head toward the end of the 2023 hurricane season, the National Hurricane Center is monitoring two areas for possible tropical development.
In the Central Caribbean, an area with unregulated rainfall and thunderstorms has a low chance of development. However, the NHC says dry air is still likely to prevent significant development of the system as it begins to slowly drift westward later this week.
The second region is located in the middle of the subtropical Atlantic Ocean and has a moderate chance of tropical development during the next week.
The NHC says environmental conditions appear to be fairly favorable for the system to gradually gain some subtropical or tropical characteristics later this week as it moves eastward across the central subtropical Atlantic.
