Sam Evian – a musician and producer known for his work with Big Thief, Palehound, Blonde Redhead and Cass McCombs – has announced a new album titled He is drowning. Follow up until 2021 Time to melt It will be released on March 22 via his new imprint Flying Cloud Recordings/Thirty Tigers. The lead single, “Wild Days,” will be released today along with a music video. Check it out below and scroll down for the LP cover, tracklist and upcoming Evian tour dates.
He is drowning It was recorded over ten days during the early winter months of 2023. Evian was joined by a group of friends and collaborators including Liam Cazar, Sean Mullins, Palehound's El Kempner, and Big Thief's Adrian Lenker. “No one knew the songs or what the plan was. We kept it loose and fun,” he said in a press release. “That was the spirit of the sessions. No headphones, no playback, minimal overdubs, and no bleeding. “Fast and loose.”
“I spend a lot of time trying to make perfect recordings for everyone,” Evian added. “So it was a simple form of resistance to make something wild and kind of mess with myself.”
