    Open Call: Training program for aspiring journalists and editors

    The Come Together Project launches its first training program for aspiring journalists and editors. This 30-hour program is designed for Addressing current challenges and disparities within the media industry and reshaping the newsroom landscapes, with special emphasis on Promote inclusivity and representation by promoting diversity, expanding collaborative networks, and equipping underrepresented groups with essential professional skills. The primary goal of the program is Reshaping the newsroom landscape by promoting diversity, expanding collaboration networks, and equipping underrepresented groups with essential professional skills. Through this, the initiative aims to: Ensuring a more comprehensive and accurate portrayal of the world in the media.

    The program is directed to Aspiring journalists and journalists/editors who are underrepresented in newsrooms. Free participation, And there 25 Places available for this course. In addition to the training course, participants have the opportunity to propose and work on their own journalistic and editorial projects. Selected projects will receive financial support and mentoring, allowing participants to contribute meaningful, informative articles under the guidance of experienced editors.

    The first edition of the program is organized by Gerador, a Portuguese platform for journalism, culture and education, and will take place between March and May 2024. The second edition, organized by Korzev – a platform for culture, media and society from Croatia, will have an open call in September 2024.

    The Come Together project is funded by the European Commission through the Creative Europe programme.

    What are the goals of this program?

    • Promoting diversity within newsrooms and expanding the network of collaborators with media institutions.
    • Enhancing the professional skills of aspiring journalists and editors who are underrepresented in the field.
    • Create a platform for collaborative educational programmes, bringing together young and ambitious journalists from diverse communities to strengthen trust in the media among diverse audiences.

    Who is eligible?

    • Aspiring and budding journalists of any age;
    • Applicants legally resident in countries falling within the Creative Europe framework (which includes EU Member States, overseas countries and territories, EU external areas, and non-EU participating states as defined in This list)1 ;
    • People belonging to groups underrepresented in the media may be given priority.

    1 After selection, proof of residence in countries within the Creative Europe framework may be requested.

    January 16: Launch of the open call

    January 25: Online Q&A session

    February 4: Deadline for applications

    From February 4 to 19: The committee reviews and evaluates the applications of finalists

    February 19-23: Shortlisted candidates will be notified
