On Tuesday, health officials issued a warning about possible measles exposure at Dulles and Ronald Reagan airports in the Washington, D.C., metro area.

The Virginia Department of Public Health said they had a “confirmed case” of a person traveling through both airports while returning home from an international flight.

The incident highlights the danger of allowing millions of unvetted foreigners to cross the southern border.

    'Highly contagious disease'

The latest incident does not appear to be serious according to authorities, but it highlights how dangerous infectious diseases can be when they spread in high-traffic locations like airports.

“DC Health says the potential exposure occurred in the international arrivals area of the main terminal at Dulles International Airport between 4 and 8 p.m. on January 3, and then in Terminal A at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport the next day from 2 p.m.,” Fox News reported. “:30 to 6:30 p.m.”

Reagan National Airport and Dallas are two of the airports most frequently used by members of Congress and federal employees who work in the metropolitan area.

“DC Health has been notified of a confirmed case of measles in an individual who traveled through DC area airports upon his return from international travel,” the agency said in a statement. “Although the risk of transmission is low, DC Health is notifying area residents who have been at these locations about their potential exposure.”

People who have been notified have been asked to self-isolate and report any symptoms to their doctors.

According to the Virginia Department of Health:

“Measles is a highly contagious disease that can spread easily through the air when an infected person breathes, coughs, or sneezes. Measles symptoms usually appear in two stages. In the first stage, most people have a fever over 101 degrees, a runny nose, red eyes, and a cough. These symptoms usually begin 7 to 14 days after exposure.

“The second stage begins 3 to 5 days after symptoms appear, as a rash begins to appear on the face and spreads to the rest of the body. People infected with measles are contagious from 4 days before the rash appears until 4 days after the rash appears.

Measles is on the rise, and this is one reason. >>> “We have a large influx of people from other countries who come here and cannot get the care we provide.” https://t.co/g1kvorhLbp

What about the millions who come to the United States illegally every year?

This concern has come about because of the ticketed passengers of the flight who are supposed to have proper documentation.

But what about the millions of aliens who enter the United States illegally every year?

This latest measles alert was issued after a passenger was found to have measles.

    just one.

    Record high illegal immigration

The danger becomes even more pronounced given that the United States has suffered record illegal immigration since the Biden administration took office.

In December, nearly 13,000 illegal aliens crossed into Texas alone in one day.

A Biden administration official admitted in the same month that they allow 5,000 illegal aliens to enter the country every day.
