opinion
Former President Donald Trump swept the Iowa caucus this weekend with a historic victory. As if it wasn't clear enough, after this weekend, it should be clear that, barring a freak accident, Donald Trump will be the Republican nominee for president.
Facing President Joe Biden, Trump has a fairly large lead in certain parts of the country, such as Georgia, suggesting that the United States may see a second Trump administration. This reality holds many on the left, and even some who claim to be on the right, fearful of what a Trump runoff might look like.
Talk of potential dictatorship, revenge, and, of course, the destruction of our democracy as we know it, is creeping onto mainstream media headlines. It turns out there is a group of not-so-silent agents preparing to mobilize against Mr. Trump should he take office, arguing that a Trump presidency would mean an abuse of his power over the military.
Interesting wording
NBC News published an article focusing on the seemingly rampant fears among D.C. elites that Donald Trump would abuse the United States military if he won the presidency.
Yes, the man most famous for refusing to use the army as his predecessors did, and his successor as well. To translate: This gang of elites is worried You will not create enough war.
The article opens with the following:
Donald Trump is stoking fears among those who understand the inner workings of the Pentagon that he will turn the nonpartisan U.S. military into the muscle arm of his political agenda when he makes comments about dictatorship and devalues the checks and balances that underpin the country's democracy. A century-old democracy.

The assumption in the above is that the Pentagon is operating efficiently, is not clearly left-leaning if not downright liberal in its management and operation at this point, and is doing little to check or balance anything other than its own personal gain against what is best for the United States. his mom.
The article goes on to highlight a group of individuals working tirelessly behind the scenes to prevent Donald Trump at all costs from “abusing” the military:
“…a loose network of public interest groups and lawmakers is quietly making plans to try to thwart any efforts to expand presidential power…”
This group of self-proclaimed saviors of democracy are not so quiet about their plans. One such plan is to try to tighten the left and right standards of the Insurrection Act.
Between right and wrong
Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal is one of those “quiet” lawmakers trying to sabotage a potential Trump presidency. His focus was on trying to limit the scope of the Insurrection Act.
The Insurrection Act gives the president the authority to deploy the United States military domestically in order to suppress insurrection or domestic violence. The scenario that leftists claim to be worried about is a future President Trump deploying the military on the streets of America in the event of violent riots against his election.
The reason this possibility seems likely to them is his alleged desire to use the military to crush the horrific historical destruction that occurred during the Black Lives Matter riots. The riot itself forced President Trump and his family to rush to a bunker after “protesters” breached the doors of the White House.

Senator Blumenthal warns:
“A president with malignant motives could use it in a wide range of dictatorial ways unless the military itself resisted at some point what it considered an illegal order. But that places a very heavy burden on the military.”
Interestingly, the left does not believe that senior military commanders to whom they entrust powerful committees may not be able to distinguish between right and wrong, between law and unlawful. Are they unable to tell the difference even after huge amounts of taxpayer money goes to educating them at prestigious universities?
Or are they unwilling?
Terrible track record
NBC News was careful to point out that the last time Donald Trump was commander-in-chief, there were people around him to manipulate and alter his orders:
“Trump's circle of independent appointees from the political process distanced him from ideas that would have further limited presidential power in his final term…”
The article refers to the alleged suggestion that former President Trump had to use the military to bomb drug cartel factories in Mexico. When told that would be an act of war, the story goes, the then-president said the United States could claim it had not bombed the gangs.
Besides the fact that this allegation has been repeated verbatim throughout modern American military history numerous times with other countries by Republican and Democratic administrations, it is also one of many allegations against the former president. I prefer to stick to the facts.

Like when former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley told our main adversary that if the United States launched an attack he would give them a heads up. General Milley testified before Congress that he told Chinese General Li Zhucheng:
“I said, 'Hell, I'll call you. But we're not going to attack you. Trust me, we're not going to attack you.'
Then there are President Trump's 2018 orders to completely withdraw troops from Syria, which his generals and staff have ignored.
Former diplomat Jim Jeffrey confirmed this in an interview with Defense One:
“We were always playing tricky games so as not to make it clear to our leadership how many troops we had there.”
The military seems to have no problem deciding which orders it will and will not follow, and they are not shy about acting in their own capacity outside the wishes of the chief executive.
In other words, they seem perfectly fine going so far as to disobey direct orders from the Commander-in-Chief, and even lie to him after the fact.
In other words, a cabal of permanent bureaucrats In reality It is possible to call those who make decisions in place of the elected government, for example, the “deep state.”
Actual point
As usual, fears that Donald Trump will turn the United States into a dictatorship by using the military or another arm of the federal government to impose his will are not only unfounded, but not even real. These “quiet” entities are not afraid of any of that; They are afraid that Mr. Trump will unmask them as dangerous, unelected puppet masters and strip them of their undeserved power.
This NBC News article says just that:
“Part of the goal is to identify like-minded organizations and create a coalition to challenge Trump from day one…”
The goal is not to protect democracy. It is to do everything in their power to prevent Donald Trump from carrying out his duties as President of the United States. The duly elected president.
These “like-minded” organizations are undoubtedly tied to the defense industry itself, where lobbyists and board members from various military backgrounds want to maintain the same erosion in military safety that has been growing for decades within the Pentagon.
Steve Bannon, former chief strategist in the Trump White House, said of Trump's second presidency:
“You will see a massive cleanup at the Pentagon. President Trump wants to establish a philosophy on how to win wars.”
Since the military-industrial complex has no interest in winning wars because it means less money and opportunities for military and defense officials who will soon be retiring and looking for their next career move in the defense contracting industry, Donald Trump would naturally pose a threat. . Not for democracy but for their shadow oligarchy.
