Tonight: It will be mostly clear and dangerously cold again. If bridges and overpasses don't dry out due to the wind, we could have icy patches again on Wednesday morning's commute. Minimum temperatures range from 5 to 10 degrees, and winds range from -5 to 10 degrees. Wind Advisory in effect until 8:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Stay inside. Protect your pipes. This is pipe burst weather. Make sure your faucets are dripping and exposed pipes are wrapped.
Wednesday will be a beautiful day with plenty of sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures as high pressure sits above the highs of the southeastern United States and will finally be above freezing in the mid 30s. Wednesday night will be clear and not as cold with lows in the teens to 20s.
The warming trend continues Thursday as high pressure moves east of Alabama and southerly winds return to the state. A cold front will move toward Alabama bringing us scattered showers during the afternoon and Thursday night. High temperatures will be in the upper 40s. Thursday night the rain will end with sunrise on Friday. We could see some snow mixed with rain across northern Alabama. Fortunately, it looks like the rain will stop before low temperatures drop into the lower 30s.
We'll start to dry out on Friday with lots of clouds in the wake of the cold front. It will be windy and cold. High temperatures will start out in the 30s, but drop into the 20s by late afternoon. Friday night will be mostly clear and chilly again with lows in the teens. The wind chill will return to near zero.
Weekend forecast: Weather informed Saturday morning through Sunday morning. A high pressure area will develop across the southeastern United States this weekend. Saturday will be mostly sunny and very cold with highs in the lower 30s. Many areas will remain below freezing. Saturday night will be mostly clear and breezy with lows in the 10s/teens. Sunday will be plenty of sunshine with high temperatures a bit in the lower 40s.
