MSNBC host Joy Reid criticized Iowa's predominantly white Christian population for their role in the recent caucuses, which saw Donald Trump win dramatically in his bid for the Republican nomination for a third straight time.
During a segment discussing the Iowa caucuses, Reade launched into a racist tirade about the state's demographics, asserting that it is majority white Christian while culturally exploiting white people's blonde hair.
“These are white Christians. This is a country that is overrepresented by the white Christians who will be participating tonight. This is a white, hyper-proselytizing country,” Reid said.
Her comments, which were based on data from the General Institute for Research on Religion, confirmed that 61% of Iowa's population is white Christians, compared to about 41% in the country as a whole.
Reade's comments took a sharper turn when she questioned white evangelical Christians' consistent support for Donald Trump despite a series of electoral setbacks. According to the information Jones conveyed to her, this demographic considers themselves “the rightful heirs of this country,” with Trump being the leader promising to restore this legacy.

Reed did not stop in her comment to discuss Iowa's demographic dynamics. She went on to say that Nikki Haley faces an uphill battle to secure the Republican nomination because of racism, and that she is an American of Sikh descent.
“She's still a black woman who has to try to win in a party that's so anti-immigrant and accepts that you can say immigrants are poisoning the blood of our country. She was born, you know, from Donald Trump.”
She then added that DeSantis has more shots than Haley because he is white.
“And I don't care how much her donor likes her, which is going to get a lot more, the better she does in New Hampshire. So it's still a challenge. I don't see how she becomes that party's nominee with Donald Trump still around. I can't imagine that happening. Maybe it could happen Ron DeSantis's only argument for staying in is that he's the white guy, and he can still attract white people.

Joy Reid's recent racist remark about Iowa's predominantly white Christian population in the context of Donald Trump's victory in Iowa reflects a pattern of similar comments from liberals in the past.
