    Joyce Randolph, the actress best known for her role as Trixie Norton on the popular sitcom The Honeymooners that aired in the 1950s, has died at the age of 99. Widely regarded as a classic of the television comedy genre in the United States, Joyce was the last one to survive. The cast member before her death on January 13, 2024, and tributes have been pouring in on social media since the news broke.

    The original Honeymoon series aired for approximately 39 episodes in 1955, and was created by Jackie Gleason who also played one of the main characters, Ralph Kramden. Gleason died in 1987 at the age of 71.

    Other main characters include Alice Kramden, initially played by Bert Kelton (1902-1968) before Audrey Meadows (1922-1996) took over the role, and Ed Norton, played by Academy Award winner Art Carney.

    Carney died in 2003, making Joyce Randolph, who played his wife Trixie Norton, the last surviving member of the cast until her death over the weekend.

    Joyce's fans have flooded social media to commemorate her legacy, with @JamesLNeibaur describing her death as a “very sad farewell” in an X post.

    At the time of her death in 2024, Joyce Randolph's net worth was approximately $4 million.

    Born in Michigan, Detroit to a Finnish father, Randolph was quickly dubbed the Greta Garbo of Detroit by critics after her success as Trixie in the popular sitcom.

    She began her acting career very early, and during her teenage years, she worked with the Wayne University Workshop and participated in a Stage Doors production before moving to New York.

    Once she arrived in the Big Apple, she began working on Broadway and landed roles in numerous TV shows and commercials. One such ad in particular is an ad for Clorets gum, which is where Joyce Randolph first meets the famous actor and comedian Jackie Gleason.

    Jackie would go on to star as Randolph in one of his sketches for the series star parade, Which it will become later honeymoon. It was there that she first began playing the beloved character of Trixie Norton, although Elaine Stritch was cast in the part before her.

    Joyce Randolph became so synonymous with the character of Trixie, that she allegedly went on record to find it difficult to get jobs later because of how famous she was for that one role. However, she will continue to act in theater and commercials.

Richard died in 1997, and their son Randolph Richard Charles recently announced that Joyce Randolph died in her sleep while in a nursing home on January 13, 2024.
