A winter storm prompted Lincoln County Transportation to suspend service, with hazardous conditions on area roads, and the Oregon Department of Transportation closed Interstate 229 as well as Interstate 20 from Newport to Eddyville due to actively falling trees. The service will remain suspended until at least Monday.

The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners held a special meeting on Sunday, January 14 to declare a state of emergency due to the ice storm. Read the emergency declaration here: Emergency-Declaration-1-14-24-Signed-PDF (lincoln.or.us)

Lincoln County Emergency Management encourages all residents to continue to stay home if possible. Tonight's cold temperatures will re-cover roads with ice, making the surface treacherous, and more ice in trees, potentially causing more dangerous tree falls.
