    Weather update: Dangerous winds expected until Monday morning

    COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Emergency Management says dangerous wind chills are expected to continue through Monday morning. Lowest wind chill values ​​are expected to be between -20 and -35 degrees today.

    Temperatures are also expected to remain very cold through Tuesday morning with wind chills below zero.

    Light snow is likely late Monday into Monday night with accumulations of less than an inch.

    Warming centers:

    • Brighter Days will be open from 6pm to 8am daily.
    • The Community Engagement Center will be open from 8am to 6pm daily, including weekends.
    • ColumBUS makes a trip every day (starting Saturday) at 7:45 a.m. from Brighter Days to the Community Center so customers don't have to walk.

    Travel conditions:

    • Remember that roads may be slick in areas where ice has formed from rain or snow.
    • Leave extra space between you and the car in front of you.
    • Allow extra time to start and stop your car.
    • Be sure to remove ice and/or snow from all of your vehicle's windows to improve visibility.
    • You can check travel status for all Indiana counties at www.in.gov/dhs/traveladvisory.
    • You can check traffic issues for state roads at 511in.org.
