The Michigan Wolverines celebrated their national championship this afternoon, first with a parade through Ann Arbor, then at the Crisler Center in front of a sold-out crowd.

At the event, JJ McCarthy and Jim Harbaugh – among others – spoke in front of thousands of fans, each being met with chants of “One More Year.”

McCarthy did not provide an answer about his future, saying: “No matter what comes out of this, Michigan will forever be in my heart — and I will be proud to be known as a Michigan man.”

Shortly after the celebrations, reports emerged that McCarthy will announce his decision on his future tomorrow.

In three years as a Wolverine, McCarthy threw for 6,226 yards and 49 touchdowns. He is 26-1 as a starter at Michigan, the best in program history.

McCarthy is also a national champion, having led the Wolverines to a 15-0 season en route to the Rose Bowl and the National Championship Game.

He doesn't have much left to accomplish as a quarterback at Michigan, outside of a Heisman Trophy and being named team captain. He could also go back and get his university degree, which always carries a lot of weight after his playing career is over.

But if that's the case for him in college, McCarthy will forever be remembered in Ann Arbor for helping bring the football program to fruition.
