A major winter storm has dumped heavy snow on the Upper Peninsula since Friday, but the amount of snow varies, as it usually does.

The National Weather Service is constantly updating these totals, and are as of early Sunday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Marquette, Alger, Lucie, Northern Schoolcraft and Southern Chippewa Counties until 7:00 PM Sunday. The winter weather warning for western UP provinces is set to expire on Sunday morning.

Roads remain snow-covered and slippery in most locations, and police are urging people to stay off the roads if possible.

Here are some of the totals, although they are likely to change throughout the day Sunday.

Mount Arvon (Baraga County, highest point in Michigan)….37.8 inches
    Northwest of Ishpeming….33 inches
    National Mine….33 inches

    Fast River….8 1/2 inches….
    Big Bay….8.3 inches
    Menominee…8 inches
    Near Escanaba….6 1/2 inches
    South Manistique…4 inches
