But when pressed on how Chicago would pay for Biden's failures and whether to raise taxes on Chicagoans to pay for the crisis, Johnson declined to answer the question despite being asked three times during an interview with CBS 2's Sabrina Franza on Thursday.
CBS Chicago investigators uncovered records showing Chicago paid at least $138 million from October 2022 to the present to meet the needs of undocumented immigrants, and $95 million of COVID relief funds were diverted to cover housing.
Discussing what has already been spent and the clear need for additional funding, Franza asked: “Are you going to add a tax to help pay for this?”
Johnson didn't offer an answer, “Well, I think people are clearly aware of my vision for revenue in this city, and my revenue, of course, is committed to making sure that we do everything we can to address the problem of unhoused people.
