The Chicago area is preparing for a possible snow storm
The next in a series of powerful storms that have brought dangerous weather to large swaths of the country in the central United States will begin today. Snow is expected to fall from Nebraska to New Mexico. The storm is headed toward the Midwest and Great Lakes on Friday when Chicago prepares to experience blizzard conditions during the city's first major snowstorm in years.
Severe weather is targeting the south again
On the warm side of the latest storm to impact the country, severe thunderstorms will be a problem. Some of the same areas in the South already hit by deadly tornadoes this week are at risk for severe weather. Storms begin Thursday night before moving east during the day on Friday.
An Arctic blast is preparing to plunge the United States into a deep freeze
A fluctuation in the polar vortex is sending a polar cold front sweeping across the country starting Thursday. The northern tier will be the first to see the coldest air so far this season. Eventually, freezing weather will reach the Gulf Coast.
