    A wind chill warning is in effect amid extremely cold temperatures

    chicago – Several advisories and advisories went into effect throughout Chicago and the suburbs overnight Dangerously Cold temperatures continue to fall this morning.

    Wind chills generally range from 30 to 40 below zero this morning.

    A wind chill warning is in effect for Central Cook County, Eastern Whale County, Kankakee County, Southern Cook County, Lake County, Newton County, Porter County, and Jasper County until 12 noon Sunday.

    The Wind Chill Warning for DeKalb County, DuPage County, Grundy County, Kane County, Kendall County, LaSalle County, Lake County, McHenry County, Northern Cook County, Northern Well County, Southern Well County will expire Monday at noon.

    A Wind Chill Warning has been issued for many of the above counties from noon Sunday through Wednesday at 9 a.m

    A complete list of warnings and advisories issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) can be found here.

    The NWS says strong westerly winds will continue to cause gusts and drifts on many roads on Sunday.

    If you're taking your dog out for the next few days, keep it short. This is the morning for sweaters and socks.

    Wind chills of -20 to -40 degrees can cause frostbite on exposed skin within 10 to 30 minutes.

    The NWS says you should limit your time outdoors, cover all exposed skin, bring pets indoors and allow faucets to drip slowly.

    There are several warming centers open. Some offer asylum 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Click here for a map of warming centers near you.
