Winter weather warning
A strong polar front is expected to flow through the region this evening, causing a rapid drop in temperatures. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 6:00 PM Sunday until noon Monday.
The weather will be colder from Sunday morning until Wednesday morning. There is a 20-40% chance of light freezing rain Sunday evening into Monday morning with small ice accumulations. Please be careful while driving during this period, especially on bridges and elevated surfaces.
Take precautions now to prepare yourself and your home before the cold weather. Remember the four Ps: People, Pets, Pipes and Plants:
People: Reduce time outdoors. Check on older people and other vulnerable people to make sure they are okay.
Pets: Keep your pets as warm, dry and indoors as possible. Make sure their food and water don't freeze. Set outside time and keep them grouped.
Pipes: Insulate pipes if possible. Open the sump tanks to expose the pipes to the hot air. Disconnect the hoses and turn off the water to the sprinklers.
Plants: Know their temperature thresholds. If possible, cover them before cold weather sets in to help retain some heat.
Please continue to monitor local weather agencies for any updates. You can also find resources, updates and any emergency information provided by the City on our website www.taylortx.gov and through our social media channels.
