The daughter of the late great comedian George Carlin, who died of heart failure in 2008 at the age of 71, is speaking out this week to criticize an artificial intelligence-generated special that seeks to imitate him.
Carlin's daughter seems out of sorts
“No instrument will ever replace his genius,” Kelly Carlin told Rolling Stone.
Kelly was referring to an hour-long special from Dudesy, an AI-powered podcast, that seeks to reinvent Carlin's signature style.
“What you're about to hear is not George Carlin,” he declares at the start, adding that to replicate Carlin's style, “I listen to all of George Carlin's material and do my best to imitate his voice, his tempo and his attitude as well.” As a subject I think he would have been interested today.”
“I know what all the comedians around the world are saying now: 'I'm an artist and an art form that's too creative, too precise, too precise to be replicated by a machine.' “There's no computer program that can tell a fart joke as good as I can,” Dudesy continued, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Kelly doubles down
Kelly took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to give her full thoughts on this AI attempt to imitate her father.
“My statement about artificial intelligence impressed George Carlin: My father spent his life perfecting his craft from his human life, mind, and imagination,” she wrote. “No machine will ever replace his genius. These AI-created products are clever attempts to try to recreate a mind that will never exist again.”
“Let's let the artist's work speak for itself. Humans are so afraid of the void that we can't allow what has fallen into it to stay there,” she continued. “Here's an idea, how about we listen to some living human comedians? But if you want to hear the real George Carlin, he has 14 specials you can find anywhere.
When asked, “This clown had permission,” she was quick to reply, “No permission was given.”

Robin Williams' Daughter Teases A.I
This comes months after the daughter of the late comedian Robin Williams criticized attempts by artificial intelligence to recreate him. Zelda Williams, 34, took to her Instagram Story in October to give her thoughts on the dispute between the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), with AI being one of those parties, the Daily Mail reported. The main factors in it.
“I have witnessed for years the number of people who want to train these [AI] “Models for creating/recreating actors who cannot consent, like my father,” she said. “I've already heard that AI uses its 'voice' to say what people want, and while I personally find that annoying, the implications go far beyond my own feelings.”

This came after members of SAG and the Writers Guild of America (WGA) launched a strike in May, in part to seek protection from artificial intelligence, which is unrestricted at this time.
“It's not theoretical,” Zelda continued, “it's very real.” “Living actors deserve the opportunity to create characters of their choice, to voice caricatures, and to put their human effort and time into the pursuit of performance.”
She added: “These entertainment activities, at their best, are a poor facsimile of greater people, but at their worst, a horrific Frankenstein's monster, cobbled together from the worst parts of everything this industry stands for, rather than what it should stand for.” .
With AI developing more and more every day, it will certainly be interesting to see what it will be used for next. What do you think of this? Let us know in the comments section.
