Hollywood star Sally Field recently spoke out about her ex-boyfriend Burt Reynolds, who died five years ago in September 2018 at the age of 82.
Field claims Reynolds 'wasn't a nice guy'
While interviewing Dave Karger about his upcoming book 50 Oscar Nights, which is scheduled to be released on January 23, Field, now 77, claimed that Reynolds “wasn't happy” with the Oscar buzz she was receiving for her work in Norma Rae Back in 1980 before the 52nd Academy Awards.
“He wasn't a nice guy to be around at the time,” Field said in an excerpt obtained by People Magazine, adding that Reynolds “wouldn't have gone” as her date.
“He didn't want me to go to Cannes [Film Festival] Absolutely,“ I continued. “He said to me, 'You don't think you're going to win anything, do you?'
“When the Oscars came around, he wasn't a nice guy to be around at the time and he didn't want to go with me,” Field continued. It was actor and comedian David Steinberg and his eventual wife, Judy, who stepped up to celebrate what would be Feld's first Oscar with her.
“Then David said, 'Okay, for God's sake, we'll take you,'” she recalls. “He and I made it a big celebration. They took me in a limo and had champagne in the car. They made it just great fun.”

Field and Reynolds dated for about five years in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and she spoke out against him several times in the wake of his death. In her 2018 memoir “In Pieces,” released a few days after Reynolds’ death, Field wrote that “he was a very important part of my life but for a very short period of my life… I never really talked to him.” For the last thirty years of his life.
When asked in a 2022 interview what her worst on-screen kiss was, Field didn't hesitate to reply, “Burt Reynolds.”
“That wasn't something he did really well,” she added with a laugh. “I could go into detail, but you don't want to hear that.”
Upon further pressing, Field said that “a lot of drooling was involved.” Check out her full comments on this in the video below.

Field accuses Reynolds of lying
In his 2016 memoir “But Enough About Me,” Reynolds claimed that Field was the love of his life and expressed his regret for not fighting harder to save their relationship. But after his death, Field claimed he was lying when he described her as the love of his life.
“He wasn't someone I could be around,” she told Variety. “It wasn't good for me in any way.”
“He somehow invented, in rethinking everything, that I was more important to him than he thought, but I wasn't,” she continued. “He just wanted to have the thing he didn't have. I just didn't want to deal with that.”
We can only imagine what Reynolds would say if he saw what Field said about him in the wake of his death. What do you think of this? Let us know in the comments section.
