First Lady Jill Biden spoke out in a new interview to complain about the way Republicans are treating her son Hunter Biden, accusing them of being “cruel.”
Jill defends Hunter and attacks Republicans
While being interviewed by MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski, Jill was quick to defend Hunter amid the onslaught of attacks on him from Republicans.
“I think what they are doing to Hunter is cruel,” she said. “And I’m really proud of the way Hunter rebuilt his life after addiction.”
“You know, I love my son and this happened, it hurt my grandchildren,” she added. “And that's what worries me the most, is that it affects their lives as well.”
Gill's interview aired the day after House Republicans voted for a contempt of Congress resolution against Hunter, leading to a full House vote and the possibility of criminal charges against the president's son.

Jill criticizes Republican attacks on her family
Jill went on to address Republicans' repeated attacks on the Biden family, specifically the rhetoric used.
“I mean, look at it, what have we become accustomed to, and what have the extremists from the other side turned into this country,” Jill said. “I mean we would never see things like this, like 10 years ago.”
Naturally, Jill did not mention the way Democrats have spoken and treated former President Donald Trump and his family over the years. When it comes to the Trump family, no attack was too little for leftists, and no attempt to destroy their lives went too far. Now that Hunter Biden is in the hot seat, liberals like Jill are suddenly losing their minds about the rhetoric and the politically motivated “witch hunt.”

Jill defends Joe's age
Elsewhere in the interview, Jill defended her husband, Joe Biden, against repeated claims that he is too old to be president. He is currently 81 years old, and will turn 86 by the end of his second term if re-elected, according to Politico. Despite collective concerns about the matter, Jill claims Joe's age is an “asset”.
“I see his energy, I see his energy, I see his passion every day,” said Gill, 72. “He has wisdom, he has experience.”
“He can do it. And I see Joe every day. I see him out there traveling all over this country. I see his energy, I see his energy, I see his passion every day,” she added. “I would say his age is an asset. He is experienced. He knows every leader on the world stage. He lived history. He knows history. – Thoughtful in his decisions. “He is the right man, the right person for this job at this moment in history.”
But unfortunately for Jill, much of the country doesn't agree with her. Last August, a Wall Street Journal poll showed that 73% of registered voters considered Joe “too old to run for president.” Joe also finished 2023 with a very low approval rating of 39%.
Ignoring her husband's unpopularity, Jill stuck to her guns, claiming that it was crucial that he win this year's election.
“We have to win. We have to win. We cannot give up our democracy,” Gill said. “And if you don’t?” Brzezinski asked.
“I don’t know,” Jill replied. “I can't think about it.”
Sorry, Jill, but the rest of us can think about it, and there are millions of Americans who would like to live in a world where your husband is no longer president!
