America's southern border has been broken for too long. Very long.
The number of illegal immigrants entering the country is increasing more than at any time in modern history. In fact, December 2023 was the worst month, in the worst year ever.
Democrats aren't lifting a finger to fix this. In fact, the Biden administration – After the worst year in history Opening more border crossings.
But for a group of conservatives in the House of Representatives, enough is enough.

Close the borders or whatever
As another “funding deadline” approaches, the lack of regularity has given the Conservatives leverage.
The Messenger narrates,Close the southern border or shut down the government This is what a growing number of Republicans in the House of Representatives are demanding as negotiations over the two issues intensify on Capitol Hill.
“We're all saying the same thing,” Keith Self, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, said after the Republican caucus meeting Wednesday morning. “Our people are asking us to close the borders. This now poses an existential threat to our republic.”
The story continued:
Rep. Tim Burchett said the border is the No. 1 issue and he was not satisfied with caucus discussions on how to leverage policy changes to stem the flow of migrants. The Tennessee Republican is willing to use government funding as a leverage point, but he said his colleagues are divided.
“Some people don't want to fight,” Burchett said. “They just want to move on and get re-elected. “I don’t share that feeling.”

National security must be Congress's top priority
It is strange that this is repeated so often: the primary purpose of government is to protect the country and its citizens. This is it Firstly The thing that exists to do.
House Freedom Caucus member Matt Rosendale said:Our greatest obligation as members of Congress is to secure our nation. “We don't do that, but this is our opportunity to do that, now, when these two major issues come together, where you have funding for large parts of the government and a political issue that puts our national security at risk.”
Rosendahl is right that national security should be a primary concern for lawmakers.
He's not crazy. These Republicans are doing the right thing by threatening to shut down the government if nothing can be done to fix the border.
If we had no borders we would not have a nation. There is nothing complicated in understanding it.
