Rapper Lil Nas, who danced a hell of a dance in his music video for his song “Montero,” was insulted by evangelical Christian institution Liberty University, which was quick to invalidate a message he shared claiming he had been accepted to their school.

Liberty University denies accepting Lil Nas

It all started on Tuesday, when Lil Nas took to social media to share a message claiming he had been accepted into Liberty University while promoting his new single “J Christ.”

“I know Twitter hates me right now but I want you to know that I'm about to go to college for biblical studies in the fall. Not everything is a troll! Anyway I'm a student again! Let's go,” he wrote alongside the alleged message.

However, Liberty University was having none of it, as the school quickly issued a statement saying Lil Nas had not, in fact, been accepted.

“We can confirm that Liberty University has not issued Montero Hill’s ‘acceptance letter’ that was posted yesterday on social media, and we have no record of Montero Hill applying to the university,” the school told Billboard.

“Liberty University exists to glorify God by providing men and women in higher education with devotion to the Christian faith expressed through the Bible,” the statement continued. “We continue to pray for America and for the gospel of Jesus Christ to be proclaimed throughout this land. We welcome all to come forward and join us at Liberty University.”

    Gee Christ music video

It comes after the music video for Lil Nas' new song “J Christ” was released early this morning, opening with a series of callbacks to his hellish video for “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” including a bad pole Reputation to Hell and Lil Nas

Lil Nas, who directed the music video, can then be seen returning to Heaven, where he reunites with Satan and plays a one-on-one basketball game against him. The rest of the video shows excerpts from the Bible such as the crucifixion of Jesus, Nabal shearing David's sheep, and Moses parting the Red Sea. It ends with Lil Nas turning into Noah and shepherding the people of Earth onto a big ship to survive in this flood world.

“Back up the graveyard / Bh, I'm back like J Christ,” Lil Haas declares in the song. “I'll get the gay buzz / I'll kiss it high.”

The video ends with the screen saying “Day Zero” for “A New Beginning,” with a quote from 2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.” The old is dead; Behold, the new has come.”

    Lil Nas defends himself

Prior to the song's release, Lil Nas was widely criticized for using biblical imagery to promote his music.

“The crazy thing about the photo is not the mockery of Jesus,” he recently said in his own defense, according to Variety. “The image of Jesus is used throughout history in popular art around the world.”

“I'm not making fun of this,” he added. “You just have to stop trying to preserve a religion that's been here before any of us were born. Stfu.”

In the end, we're glad Liberty University distanced itself from Lil Nas, because he clearly isn't affiliated with any type of Christian organization. What do you think of this? Let us know in the comments section.
