DENVER (KDVR) — Dangerous cold and snowfall are moving into Denver's weather forecast for the weekend.
A fine weather alert day has been issued for Saturday and Sunday, with sub-zero temperatures and fresh snow expected to make travel difficult.
Tonight's weather: partly cloudy, cool
Wednesday night, the winds will start to calm down. Denver will remain under partly cloudy skies with temperatures dropping into the mid 20s, about 5 degrees below normal for this time of year.
Weather tomorrow: colder, and a chance of snow
On Thursday, clouds will increase with a northern breeze blowing. This will keep temperatures only reaching highs in the mid 20s.
Snow will continue to fall in the mountains. A few snow showers will spread across the Front Range, and snowfall totals are expected to be less than an inch.
LOOKING AHEAD: Snow and dangerous cold
On Friday, Denver will see a short break in the snow. Temperatures will remain cold, rising from lows in the single digits to highs in the mid 30s.
The Pinpoint Weather Team has issued an Exact Weather Alert Day for Saturday and Sunday due to dangerous cold and new snow.
Temperatures on Saturday and Sunday night will drop below zero, and the wind chill may drop to between 15 to 25 degrees below zero. Fresh snow and cold temperatures could also make travel difficult during Monday.
Sunshine returns to the forecast Tuesday and Wednesday, which will help temperatures slowly rise toward 40 degrees.
