The 2024 Acura Integra is a luxury compact car with a sporty character. In fact, it's so sporty that it offers a manual transmission. Pricing starts at $31,500.
It's 2024, and who would have thought a luxury brand would put a 6-speed manual transmission on the options list? Thanks, Acura, for making the Integra more interesting. Although there was an Integra in the 1990s, this generation debuted only last year, replacing the ILX. Like the ILX, the Integra is based on the Honda HMC model.
Civic. This is not a bad thing. The latest generation Civic is just as modern, just as impressively capable, and makes a great foundation.
We've spent hundreds of hours driving and evaluating the current lineup of small luxury cars, including many examples of the Acura Integra.
What's new for 2024
The big story this year is the 320 hp Type S version. It has the same engine as the highly desirable Civic Type R but produces five more horsepower. In addition to a revised appearance that combines style and practicality, the Type S's sporty performance upgrades include a helical-type limited-slip differential, Brembo front brakes, as well as wider and grippier tires.

Other luxury small sedans include the Audi A3, Mercedes-Benz CLA, and BMW BMW,
2 Series Gran Coupe, all starting at $30,000. Among this crowd, the 2024 Integra has attractive prices.
Alternatively, Volkswagen VWAGY,
The Golf GTI (hatchback) is almost as luxurious and has more enthusiast heritage than the Integra (non-Type S versions, at least). It also starts in the low $30,000 range but is noticeably more powerful.
Before buying a new Integra, check the purchase price at the Kelley Blue Book Fair to see what you should pay. The Integra was only launched last year, but we expect a respectable performance in the resale value tables.

Driving the 2024 Acura Integra
The regular Integra is propelled by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 200 horsepower. For 2024, Acura has given the Integra a big boost in the form of a new Type S version. With 320 hp, this model has the power to exploit a clearly capable chassis.
Most buyers will look at the regular version, capable of sprinting from a standstill to 60 mph in about seven seconds. This makes it about a second slower than its German competitors. If we could change anything about this model, we'd prefer an engine with a little more boost and quicker response from the turbocharger. The Type S is good for a 5.7-second sprint.
This may be important for the select few who prefer the stick shift, which is offered on the 2024 Integra. These people may now feel justified in keeping all their vinyl records too, but we don't expect a sudden increase in the popularity of manual transmissions. However, as these things go, it's a joy to use โ fast and precise.
Although the 2024 Integra comes with a lively, sport-tuned suspension as standard, we still found it comfortable enough on the highway, even if it was a bit noisy. The variable ratio steering keeps things nice and stable with slow on-center reaction, getting quicker the more you turn. Great for sharp changes of direction on twisty roads. This compact luxury sedan is simply an efficient and fun package.
Take that last statement and turn up the volume for the manual-transmission-only Type S. It has a wider track for more stability, the suspension has adaptive dampers, and the car responds great without being twitchy. We also like the exciting exhaust sound in Sport Plus mode from the triple pipe system.

Fuel economy
Miles per gallon combined numbers vary. Base and A-Spec versions deliver 33 mpg combined (30 city, 37 highway). The A-Spec package with Technology results in 32 mpg combined (29 city, 36 highway) with the automatic transmission or 30 mpg combined (26 city, 36 highway) with the manual gearbox. The Integra Type S achieves 24 mpg combined (21 city, 28 highway). Premium gasoline is recommended for both engines.
Sporty interior design
We like the front seats for their combination of comfort and support, along with the overall luxurious feel of the cabin. Slim pillars enhance outward visibility and rear side airbags are standard on the 2024 Integra. However, one of the most distinctive features is the recoil section. The rear seats are split and folded in the usual 60/40 way, creating a flat loading area, resulting in flexible carrying of cargo and/or passengers.
The A-Spec package brings red gauge needles, stainless steel pedals, and contrast stitching on the steering wheel, seats and shift gaiters. The Technology Package livens up the standard imitation leather seating surfaces with imitation suede inserts.
The base infotainment system has a 7-inch touchscreen, while the Technology Package offers a 9-inch version. For an immersive audio experience, two of the ELS Studio sound system's 16 speakers (part of the Technology Package) are positioned above the front passengers.
Smart exterior
The Acura Integra's five-door liftback design blends a little pizzazz with practicality. It's certainly more interesting than the regular sedan and is another nod to previous Integra models. We were able to fit a mountain bike in the back.
Cosmetic additions with the A-Spec package include a rear spoiler, various gloss black exterior details, and 18-inch shark gray alloy wheels. The S model gets its own body kit that includes a revised front fascia for improved airflow, a functional hood scoop, and wider wheel arches to accommodate larger tires. They also offer an exclusive coating: Tiger Eye Pearl, a type of bronze.

A-Spec with Technology Package
Not everyone will opt for the new Integra Type S with more power but a higher price, but some may still want a sporty edge with a touch of luxury. This option brings an adaptive suspension and all the technology offered by the Integra.
ELS Voice
Elliot Scheiner is the man behind this 16-speaker system fitted to the pricier Integra models. Think of almost any big name in music, and chances are this Grammy-winning engineer/producer will have been behind a mixing desk with them at some point.
Engine and transmission
A turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder drives the regular Integra with 200 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque. The standard automatic transmission sends this to the front wheels. There is no all-wheel drive option. However, a 6-speed manual transmission is available.
The new-for-2024 Integra Type S has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 320 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque โ that's a lot of muscle to get from such an engine. This is only paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, and like the rest of the range, front-wheel drive is the only configuration. A mechanical limited-slip differential controls torque vectoring.

4 year/50,000 mile warranty
Acura's new-car warranty is in line with most other luxury brands โ four years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. But it's more generous with a six-year or 70,000-mile powertrain warranty. Acura also includes free scheduled maintenance for the first two years or 24,000 miles.
