Racenet model expert Stephen Brassell He is keen to spread his money between Flemington and the Gold Coast this weekend with a $200 betting strategy.
Flemington Race 3, BM70 Handicap (1400m)
• $50 for High Security (2) and OTAGO (3)
Otago (3) is clear from his impressive win at Bendigo when he sprinted clear over 1300m and suited the slightly longer trip. HIGH SECURITY (2) has more experience having made four starts and his last effort at the start when he was solid and strong across the line was good enough for the job.
Gold Coast 8, Magic Millions 2U Classic (1200m)
• WIN $50 FROM HIGHNESS (4)
The race seems to have a long tail and only few chances. CONFIDENT HIGHNESS (4) is the player they all have to get over the roughly $6.50 mark of Good Barrier (4). He came home to win at Wyong in his second start beating Spywire and then returned to testing and showed speed early before settling back and expecting the same this time. It's quality.
Gold Coast 9, Magic Millions 3yrs (1400m)
• Win $50 on Sidney Bowler (10)
The least experienced horse in the $3 million race, but he has won his only three starts impressively and won them all in style. Last time out he came forward and beat them at Randwick, and while this is clearly his toughest task yet, who knows where his ceiling lies. He looks like a good horse and the barrier will only fetch a better price.
Gold Coast 10, Magic Millions Cup (1400m)
• WIN $50 FROM ZARASTRO (5)
He's always had a lid on this horse and now he's putting it all together as a gelding, winning five of his past six starts. It's drawn quite wide but there doesn't seem to be a good bunch of speed, so I expect he'll be able to get through easily enough. It will give a tremendous spectacle and will look like a winner for a long distance.

Stop 1 – Race 7
Light racing PUNCH LANE (8) and GREEN BELT (5) hold the key having won five races between them from just eight starts. Punch Lane got the nod for a fitness score despite drawing wide and relying on Daniel Moore to negotiate the right route. The green belt has not raced since April 2022 but is jumping well. INTREPID EAGLE (7) overcame difficulties at the last start and represents good odds while HELIX (6) was stopped at a vital stage last time out when running second.
The first step: 5,6,7,8
Stop 2 – Race 8
Small field but well exposed except for TREASURED STAR (3) which resumes action after more than a year off. She has been well tested and could prove to be the ghost horse of favorite SGHIRRIPA (2) but it is hard to go past the gray who was in sparkling form and figures as a winner. I think it's the two of them while Curran (4) races consistently but doesn't win out of turn. Mine (1) has runs on the board but gives at least 5.5kg to all its competitors.
Second stop: 1,2,3,4
Stop 3 – Race 9
PIAGGIO (9) fouled at the start and was sent back to trials after failing to finish at Moonee Valley last time out but his previous form was good for the purpose. It is well drawn, can race fast and with Céline Godray claiming it will only carry 53.5kg. TONNEOFGRIT (7) is closing in on the win and his recent start has been good while MIRACLE SPIN (3) is having a strong showing in Sydney but is short enough. The Britain captain (8) was brave in a tough encounter last time out at the Valley.
Third stop: 3,7,8,9
Stop 4 – Race 10
EBONY KING (8) was strong in the market on his resumption and peaked late when beaten only fourth over 1100m in the straight. He has jumped before long and is very consistent and his figures are good value with his weight down 4kg. IS IT ME (2) was strong across the line at Caulfield on his last start and is in top form while Jenny Jerome (6) caught the eye on his restart at Moonee Valley and is a talented colt when ready. JUNGLE JIM (1) comes close to winning.
Fourth stop: 1,2,6,8

Skinny as a boy
FIRST STATION AND PUNCH LANE (8) IS A MUST DESPITE ITS WIDE BARRIER AS THE INQUIRY ON THE GREEN BELT (5) IS HIGHLIGHTED BY ANY MARKET MOVES, WHETHER POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE. It still joins INTREPID EAGLE(7) to get the value. Eager for SGHIRRIPA (2) with TREASURED STAR (3) as a savior in the second leg. PIAGGIO (9) is a good enough price in the second leg and TONNEOFGRIT (7) comes close to winning while we should include MIRACLE SPIN (3) but we prefer one of the others for value. For the final stage, we will go with just two and both are affordable. Like EBONY KING (8) and IS IT ME (2) and if we can land the skinny four, it should achieve a reasonable result with either salute.
