Runnner has announced an ambient album titled Star dust, arrives February 2 at Run for Cover. After 2023 Like dying stars, we connect, the record spans twelve songs, including the just-revealed “Ten” and “Eleven.” Take a listen below.

“I made one rule for myself while recording this recording which was that I was not allowed to record any new sound,” Noah Weinman explained in a press release. “Every sound on this album is a repurposed source Like dying stars, we connect. I was allowed to subtract, flip, stretch, chop anything I wanted, but it all had to start from something that had already been recorded for the last album. Weinman continued:

I put out the rest of the album during the spring of 2023 while I was mostly stuck in bed recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon and subsequent surgery. A project that seems to fit my constraints perfectly.

The initial process of creating these songs was an attempt to distance myself from the process a little bit. I would (kind of) randomly pick stems from the songs, like bass from one track, drums from another, and maybe find a banjo or piano loop from a third, and then put them together. It's usually a bit of a mess at first, but the fun of the album was sifting through that initial cacophony and finding the nucleus of the song to continue following. Many attempts have been abandoned, but the twelve mentioned here I consider to be the most fruitful of my endeavours.

It's been exciting, scary and incredibly rewarding to step out of my wheelhouse on this record and I hope you enjoy it.

I'd like to thank Matt Emmonson for helping me put the finishing touches on this record. Max Müller for his thoughts along the way. Ethan, Tom, Andrew and Jeff for their support and encouragement throughout the mysterious process. And all the guys at Like Dying Stars, We're Reaching Out (Sam, Evan, Jordan, Ben M, Ben W, Madi) for providing me with such compelling performances.
