New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is making his case that he is ready and willing to start for an NFL franchise.
The New England Patriots may be looking to a future without Bill Belichick and Mac Jones, but Jones wants to keep his feet firmly planted in Foxboro. Jones spoke about his preparations to continue playing with the Patriots and the improvement he has achieved in recent weeks.
“I feel like I've made progress over the last few weeks,” Jones said, per Khary Thompson at Boston.com. “I was here early, left late. A lot of people would have just said I'm done and I'm not going to do it…I've worked hard and gained 7 to 8 pounds of muscle in the last two weeks here. This is where I am now.” “That's why I'm looking forward to the next opportunity. I know it's coming, but as a midfielder and a competitor, you have to be ready, right? So, I'll be ready.”
The Patriots drafted Jones as their starter going forward, but the campaign didn't seem to work out for any party involved. Jones was selected in the first round after showing potential and talent at Alabama. He may have had a rough start to his NFL career, but he continues to maintain a positive mindset whether his future is with the Patriots or not.
“I have great respect for Mr. Kraft, his family, what they built here and the Patriots,” Jones said, per Khary Thompson at Boston.com. “Ultimately, a lot of that is out of my control, but hopefully they realize that I will compete and I will do that wherever I am on any team in the NFL whether it's here. Or somewhere else.”
