Aoife O'Donovan has announced a new album titled all my friends. It is scheduled to be released on March 22 via Yep Roc. The title track, which features the Westerlies, The Knights and San Francisco Girls Chorus, is out now. Check it out below.
“The seeds of this song predate the entire project,” O'Donovan said of “All My Friends” in a statement. “This song is about camaraderie, companionship, and people united in a common struggle against injustice. I imagine women literally marching through Tennessee as dawn breaks over the fields. I imagine the agony of only needing one state to ratify it, and how much weight that final vote carries.” I imagine the collective longing for the homeland we were born into to open its arms. The opening, which features my voice harmonizing with The Westerlies, sets the tone for the record. Slowly, the strings enter, enveloping the choir in rich tones, and then as the band kicks in after that first verse, we hear the wonderfully haunting sound of the San Choir Francisco for girls.
O'Donovan co-produced all my friendscontinuing in 2022 Age of indifferenceWith Eric Jacobsen and Darren Schneider. The LP was mixed by Schneider and mastered at Chicago Mastering by Bob Weston.
