Former President and current GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump took to Truth Social to comment on the scandal surrounding the secret hospitalization of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. The United States, and by extension the world, first learned of Secretary Austin's hospitalization days after he was admitted and placed in the intensive care unit.
Even more troubling was the revelation that the majority of the Biden administration, including the commander-in-chief himself, were not aware of the secretary's medical condition or whereabouts until days later. Will anyone be held accountable for this clear obfuscation of the truth?
Donald Trump and many others believe someone has to be. However, it remains to be seen whether accountability, let alone transparency, will be achieved.
You should be fired!
Former Commander-in-Chief Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social:
“Failed Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin should be immediately fired for improper professional conduct and dereliction of duty.”
This latest attack on the Secretary of Defense comes after the Pentagon recently revealed that the sixth person in the presidential line of succession and the second most important person in the military chain of command alongside the president himself had been hospitalized for an unknown reason without anyone being transported to the hospital. science.
This included military secretaries and the National Security Council, who were not informed of the matter until days later. Even the Deputy Secretary of Defense, who took over Secretary Austin's duties on January 1, was not told why she was on her mission until days later.
Mr. Trump continues to speak about the record of failure and lack of accountability of senior military officials by writing that Secretary Austin had:
“…He performed poorly, and should have been fired long ago, along with 'General' Mark Milley, for many reasons, but in particular the disastrous surrender in Afghanistan, which was perhaps the most embarrassing moment in our country's history!”

Dereliction of duty
It's not just Donald Trump who claims Secretary Austin should be given his walking papers. Congressman Jim Banks noted:
“…He has been a disaster from day one and should be replaced with someone focused on making the military ready to fight and win wars rather than advancing the political issues of the Biden administration.”

Mr. Trump's former Vice President, Mike Pence, said:
“I think that while we have allies at war in Eastern Europe and here in Israel, the commander of the US military in the Pentagon will be off duty for several days, and the President of the United States has not,” I don’t know about that. I think it was a dereliction of duty…”
While Secretary Austin is no longer in the US Army, he was and continues to be in the chain of command for every member of the US Military. If any Soldier, Sailor, Airman or Marine walks into the hospital and does not notify their supervisor or those in their chain of command, they will have some very uncomfortable questions to answer including an absence without leave (AWOL) charge.
He knew people
A senior Pentagon official told CNN they received:
“…Strict orders not to contact him and to allow him to rest.”
It is always a good idea to allow time for those undergoing medical treatment to recover peacefully. The point behind the above is that people an act You know about the secretary's condition and whereabouts, but not the people you think should know.
Those close to the minister certainly knew who would include his staff, an entire team of employees whose sole job was to manage the secretary's life and movements. In fact, on January 2, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General C. Q. Brown, was notified of the Secretary's hospitalization.
Granted, General Brown is not technically in any chain of command, given his position. But some questions come to mind:
- Who told General Brown?
- Did General Brown ask whether the White House and the Secretaries of Defense had been informed of this?
- Was he told that no one else would be notified then, and if so, did he inquire why?
This incident has proven that the United States is not run by elected and appointed officials, but by incompetent and selfish bureaucrats and civil servants who believe they know best what the American people and, worse still, the President of the United States need to know. .
