    The war, which was sparked by Hamas's storming of the Gaza border on October 7, 2023 and the killing of some 1,200 people, most of them civilians, in southern Israel, is now entering its fourth month.

    Retaliatory attacks by the Israel Defense Forces in the Gaza Strip killed more than 23,000 Palestinians, according to health officials in the Hamas-run enclave.

    Israel said on Monday that its forces fought “fierce battles” against Hamas fighters in the central and southern parts of the Strip.

    In the latest violence, Israeli occupation forces bombed the eastern part of the southern city of Khan Yunis and the central Gaza Strip, amid ground clashes, according to residents.

    They added that an air strike in Deir al-Balah killed 18 people overnight and four on Monday, while health officials in the enclave said 247 people were killed overnight.

    “Success” in Gaza may be “the beginning of the end”

    Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who met Mr. BlinkenHe stressed the importance of stopping hostilities in Gaza and forging a path to peace, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

    He stressed the need to restore stability and ensure that the Palestinian people obtain their legitimate rights.

    Jordanian King Abdullah said that “indiscriminate aggression” and bombing could not bring peace or security.

    Blinken, who also visited Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey among other countries during his trip, along with Israel, said he found support among Arab leaders for normalizing relations with the Israelis.

    The chief American diplomat said: “There is a clear interest in the region in seeking to achieve this, but it will require ending the conflict in Gaza and it will also clearly require that there be a practical path to the establishment of a Palestinian state.”

    A senior Hezbollah commander was killed

    In another sign that the war is extending beyond the borders of Gaza. Israel killed a senior leader in Hezbollah, an ally of Hamas Security sources told Reuters that an explosion occurred in southern Lebanon.

    They added that the man was deputy head of a unit within the group's Radwan force.

    They identified him as Wissam Al-Tawil, and said that he was killed with another fighter.

    Sky News was unable to independently verify these allegations.

    Meanwhile, the Israeli military said on Monday that it had killed a central figure in Syria who was responsible for Hamas rocket attacks on Israel.

    The IDF claimed to have “eliminated” Hassan Hakasha in Beit Jinn.

    It claimed that he was a “central figure” responsible for the rockets fired by Hamas from Syrian territory towards Israel in recent weeks.
