Things got weird on the ABC talk show “The View” again on Friday morning when Joy Behar was reminded that “murder is wrong” during a really weird interview with Gypsy Rose Blanchard.

    “Murder is wrong, Joey.”

Blanchard, 32, was recently released from prison after serving eight years for pleading guilty to the second-degree murder of her mother, Claudine de Blanchard, Business Insider reported. During an appearance on “The View,” Blanchard expressed her hope of advocating for other victims of Munchausen’s disease by proxy, “a mental illness in which a person acts as if the individual they are caring for has a physical or mental illness when the person is not really sick,” according to For the Cleveland Clinic.

“If there's someone watching right now, please listen to me, and heed my words, that you're not alone in this situation. There are other ways out. You did it wrong, so…” Blanchard said in the interview before Behar interrupted her to say: “No, no, honey, no. Don't say that. You didn't really have a choice.”

“Well I did. I made a mistake,” Blanchard replied. “And I paid my dues for it.”

“Oh, you mean that part,” Behar said in response. “Oh yeah. Never mind.”

Then co-host Ana Navarro chimed in to say: “Murder is wrong, Joey.”

“Yes, murder is wrong,” Blanchard agreed.

    Blanchard history

Blanchard was released from prison on December 28 after serving seven years of her 10-year sentence for the second-degree murder of her mother, who was believed to suffer from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, according to Page Six.

“She didn't deserve this,” Blanchard told People magazine before her release. “She was a sick woman and unfortunately I wasn't educated enough to see that. She deserved to be where I was, sitting in prison serving time for criminal behavior.”

“No one will ever hear me say I'm glad she died or I'm proud of what she did. I regret it every day,” she added.

Blanchard went on to express her hope that her story would serve as a cautionary tale for others.

“I want to make sure that people in abusive relationships do not resort to murder,” she said. “It may seem as if all roads are closed but there is always another way. Do anything, but don't take this course of action.

    Blanchard looks to the future

Blanchard is also firmly focused on her future with her husband, Ryan Anderson, a 37-year-old teacher from Louisiana, whom she married behind bars last year. “

“It's a journey. I'm still really trying to get to a place of forgiveness for her and myself and the situation,” she said. “I still love my mom. I began to understand that maybe it was something beyond her control, like an addict with an impulse. This helps me cope and accept what happened.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard defends her husband, Ryan, from negative online comments:

“Ryan, don't listen to the haters. I love you, and you love me. We don't owe anyone anything… They're just jealous because you rock my world every night… Yes I said it, D is for fire 🔥” pic.twitter.com/MWNwqhuZz6

Meanwhile, Behar was one of the original hosts of “The View” when it premiered in 1997, and although she was fired in 2013, she was brought back two years later and has remained on the show ever since. What do you think of her comments to Blanchard? Let us know in the comments section.
