Shortly after Christmas, the director of the Transportation Security Administration in Atlanta was arrested at her airport by Customs and Border Protection on charges of forging documents.
Maxine McManaman, who was a TSA employee for 21 years, was detained by Customs and Border Protection upon her return to Atlanta from Jamaica on document forgery charges late last month.
Fox 5 Atlanta reported:
ATLANTA – A few days after Christmas, a high-ranking TSA official got off an international flight at the same airport where she works, but was detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Although it may seem like a high-profile conspiracy, the FOX 5 I-Team has learned that the allegations against Maxine McManaman boil down to a nasty family fight.
For years, McManaman helped keep the skies safe, serving as assistant director of federal security at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. I have worked at the U.S. Transportation Security Administration for 21 years, almost since the TSA was created after 9/11.
After returning from her vacation in Jamaica on December 28, she was arrested and sent to the Clayton County Jail in Georgia.
The reason for her arrest was a family property matter. Her brother alleged that she forged a claim deed to illegally obtain property that originally belonged to their mother. Her brother, Delroy Chambers Jr., has had power of attorney over his mother since 2010 because she suffers from dementia.
Their mother has been the sole owner since 2008.
The property is located in Florida and is appraised at over $300,000. The McManamans and their father, Delroy Chambers Sr., took advantage of her mother's condition and submitted false documents to get the house.
Since the father and son had the same name, the forged document omitted the designations of the son and father. Chambers Jr. was able to prove that he did not sign the document because he was not in Florida at the time the bond was posted. It turns out he was in Atlanta instead.
“Going behind the owner’s back and saying they are (the owners) and forging a document, as if he had given them the house, is a crime.” “Their goal was to pass it as if it was legal, which it wasn't,” Bukata told FOX 5. Fox 5 Atlanta reported.
Chambers Sr. was also arrested in December and charged with exploitation of the elderly and forgery. He has been in the St. Lucie County Jail but is now out on bail.

The mother is now in assisted living according to police.
McManaman has been placed on leave by the TSA, and she remains in jail awaiting extradition to Florida on forgery charges.
