The Palestinian government media office said in a statement on the Telegram application that Al-Dahdouh the Younger, a journalist like his father, was killed alongside Mustafa Thuraya, adding that the two were riding in a car during press coverage when the car was attacked.
“There is nothing more difficult than the pain of loss. When you suffer from this pain again and again, it becomes more difficult and more difficult,” Wael Al-Dahdouh told Al Jazeera on Sunday.
He said: “I hope that the blood of my son Hamza will be the last of the journalists and the last of the people here in Gaza, and that this massacre will stop,” adding that his son, like him, was working for Al Jazeera to document the massacre. The Israeli army did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the death of Dahdouh’s son.
In December, Wael Al Dahdouh was treated for shrapnel wounds after an Israeli drone strike on Khan Yunis that killed Al Jazeera photographer Samer Abu Daqqa.
The October raid also killed eight members of the Dahdouh family. He found out about the bombing while reporting directly.

Dahdouh has now lost three of his eight children, Hamza, Sham and Mahmoud. In a letter to his father the day before his death, Hamza Al-Dahdouh wrote on social media: “Be patient, father. Do not lose confidence in God's mercy. And be certain that God will reward you for your patience.”
At least 77 journalists and media workers have been killed since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists.
Shorouk Asaad, spokeswoman for the West Bank-based Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, said in a WhatsApp message that she was “shocked, saddened and angry” by the killings of Hamza al-Dahdouh and Soraya.
