    Storms likely to close Grapevine station – NBC Los Angeles

    Dangerous wind gusts are expected in parts of Los Angeles County Saturday night and Sunday, with forecasters warning drivers that the Grapevine River could be closed due to snow, ice and strong storms.

    A wind warning will be in effect from 7pm Saturday to 7pm Sunday in Los Angeles County and Orange County.

    “From this evening through Sunday, travel on the I-5 #Grapevine corridor may be delayed/closed due to snow/mountain ice and warning winds of 60-80 mph,” the National Weather Service's Los Angeles office wrote on X. . “Mountain travel tonight-Sunday. A blizzard is possible with reduced visibility due to blowing snow.”

    The greatest snow threat is intermingled with the strong/damaging northwest winds of nearby I-5 #Karma+ Adjacent portions of Highway 138 near Quail Lake 10pm tonight – 10am Sunday. Roads will likely become icy late tonight. Hazardous driving conditions – prepare for possible delays/closures.#LArain#cawx https://t.co/HGWszcJJ4A

    The Meteorological Service expected a slight chance of rain after midnight but said precipitation would be light, except along the northern slopes of the mountains, including the grape area, where a few inches of snow could accumulate. Snow levels will initially drop between 4,000 and 5,000 feet Saturday evening to 2,500 to 3,000 feet overnight.

    Overnight temperatures will be mostly in the 30s and 40s but may drop into the upper 20s in the Antelope Valley.

    The weather service said the cold weather pattern will likely continue until Tuesday.
