Chicago (CBS) Snow showers will continue with us until Saturday morning.

CBS 2 is monitoring the possibility of more snow on Monday and Tuesday.

    CBS

Accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is possible early Saturday. Estimates of expected snow totals are 1.4 inches in Waukegan, 1.6 inches at Midway International Airport, 2.1 inches in Aurora, 2.7 inches in Joliet, and 3.4 inches in Morris by approximately 9 a.m. Sunday.

Some great spots will be possible for those who plan to travel early Saturday, according to CBS2 Chief Meteorologist Albert Ramon.

Snow was rare in the area until 10pm on Saturday. But we do know that there were several crashes along Interstate 55 about 30 miles south of Joliet, closing the highway between Dwight and Braidwood.

Temperatures will rise above freezing by mid-morning, so expect a light rain and snow mix during the afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the mid 30s.

Continuous flurries or drizzle are expected on Sunday. Highs will be in the mid to upper 30s.

    CBS

Monday will see highs in the upper 30s, with rain possible late in the day. This moisture is associated with a stronger system that will impact the area Monday night into Wednesday morning.

    CBS

Cold rain mixed with snow is expected Monday night into Tuesday, but with temperatures dropping to near or below freezing by late Tuesday, we expect this to transition to heavier, wet snow. Accumulations are possible, but the exact accumulations and impacts will depend on the track of this winter storm. The path and effects will become clearer over the weekend.

Tonight: Snow showers are possible late this evening and overnight. Low 31.

Saturday: Snow showers likely in the morning, then a chance of light snow/rain and flurries in the afternoon. High 36.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain. High 37.
