DENVER (KDVR) — The weather in Denver will be cold through the weekend before another chance of snow moves into the metro Sunday into Monday.
Due to the impact of this snow and gusty winds, a Fine Weather Alert Day has been issued for Monday.
Weather tonight: few snow showers and cold
Friday night, the chance of some snow will continue. Snow totals will be minimal in the metro, accumulating to a half inch or less. Temperatures will be cool but seasonal and will drop to near 20 degrees.
Tomorrow's weather: scattered clouds, cold
On Saturday, any remaining snow showers will end.
This will be followed by decreasing clouds and lower temperatures, as they will not reach their highs until near 40 degrees, which is about 5 degrees below normal for this time of year.
Looking Ahead: More snow chances
On Sunday, clouds return to Denver, while the highlands will see greater chances of snow showers. Temperatures will be about 10 degrees cooler than normal, and will not reach highs until the mid-30s. Snow showers will push down from the foothills toward the I-25 corridor Sunday night into Monday.
Snowfall totals by Monday morning will be just under an inch for metro Denver, but will be closer to 2-4 inches for areas above 9,000 feet as well as the Palmer Divide area.
An accurate weather alert has been issued for Monday. This is due to the accumulation of snowfall and temperatures below freezing, which may lead to slippery roads and slow travel during commuting hours. On Monday, winds will reach over 30 mph at times which could bring snowfall and reduced visibility.
Seasonal sunshine and temperatures return to the forecast on Tuesday. But this calm weather pattern won't last long as another chance of snow and cooler temperatures return to the forecast by the end of the week.
